transmission identification ??

How do I determine which trans I have??
1994 Ford F-150 4x4
5.8 engine
overdrive is on the end of the shift lever
4x4 control buttons are on the dash .

It is an E4OD. That is the only overdrive that came with the 5.8L.

Okay, what about a '97 F350 with a Powerstroke. What's the 4 speed auto transmission in that truck? It's my dad's and he's asking some questions about it.
