Someone here posted not too long ago about a speed sensor/tone ring kit that goes on the pinion shaft somehow. I don't know much about it but maybe a search on 9" VSS would bring up the post?? Or contact Currie, the 9-inch gurus, at www.currieenterprises.com to see if they have an answer to the problem.

I liove the 9" and all, i put one in my 93 and have been driving for a while now without a speedometer. I'd say just get a 10.25, it has a tone ring like the 8.8
Trouble with the 10.25" is they use 8-lug 16" wheels. If you don't mind having 2 different size wheels on the truck, the axle is plenty strong for anything you will ever do with your Bronco. Driveshaft modification may also need to be done due to the different size pinion yoke on the 10.25" and possibly different driveshaft length needed (shortened a little).
Currie's no help, and the 9" is what I want - the possibilities with a 9 are endless, and the reliability/strength are proven.
I did consider machining a pinion yoke to take a tone ring, but I can see definite advantages to having the pickup indoors, especially on a 4-wheeler.
