Starting Problem

Ok I read some of the posts and think you guys should be able to help me!. My problem goes like this.I Have an 88 Bronco ll With a 2.9 MFI. When the base idle is set at 1500 rpm the truck starts and runs great but when I set it down to the 700 - 800 rpm that it is supposed to be I have to crank it for at least 10 seconds for it to start, it goes into its fast idle, cuts down then stalls. I do this 2-3 times then it runs great again. It does this hot or cold. I have replaced the tps but it did not help. What other sensor could be causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated!

first i would try running the self diagnostics. the chilton manual has a listing of what all the codes mean. you can go to www.dalidesign.com/hbook/intro.html then just click main page and go down and select the link tests. it tells you which wires to jumper and you just see how many times the check engine light blinks. if this reads as a system pass...try replacing your fuel pump relay (it is the green one) the relay and the jumper for the self diagnostics are both located behind the battery on the wiring harness. good luck

Once you pull your codes if you can't figure it out post your codes and we'll see if we can figure it out.

Try cleaning the throttle body with an approved chemical spray that will not harm the teflon coating on the shaft. Then clear the computer memory by disconnecting the battery for several minutes. This will force the computer into idle relearn and may help.
