Alt lamp question

Alt lamp question
On my 1966 F100 their is a alt lamp in the dash , the lamp element has burnt out ( well it is kinda old ) I noticed my alt is not charging now , could that be caused by the bulb being burnt out in the dash ? It looks like from the wireing diagram it provides some path to the Alt.

I stand to be corrected as always. Your charging system may be the type that uses the bulb's resistance to "trigger" the alternator?
I'm sure that one of the real experts will be by soon.
