System not charging

I have a 77 f250 with an i6 It had been sitting for a while. I have had a problem with it charging properly. I have since replaced the battery, starter, voltage regulator pos and neg cables and the ignition switch. Still wont charge
I charged the battery, installed a voltmeter started the motor showed 14 volts but within minites down to 10. What should I do now?

It would seem to me that, if you have changed the voltage regulator with a known good unit, then the alternator is bad. If the truck has been sitting for a while, have you checked the wires to make sure mice have not gnawed on them?

Thanks for the reply Loan Ranger. Yes I checked the wires for that very reason and went right back to the beginning. I took the battery in (brand new) and had it checked...it was pooched. The guy at the store looked at the first reading and said "This can't be right" so he tested it with a second tester, sure enough their top of the line battery was junk. Free replacement sitting in my car now waiting to be installed. Hope that's the problem

I really do hope installing a replacement battery rectifies your problem!! If you please, when you install it and check it all out, post what you find out here.

Good luck!!

Truly, I am quite glad you got it all worked out!!

If at all possible, try to run the truck fairly often; it really is harder on one to sit idle for an extended time than it is for it to be operated.
