Voltage Regulator Clicking, Voltage Drops
I have an 85 F250. I thought the truck wasn't starting because of air in the lines, but when i put a test light on the glow plugs (just to be sure they were working) they would cycle on & off every 3 or so seconds as i was hearing the voltage regulator click. CLICK, glow plugs on 3 seconds - CLICK glow plugs off 3 seconds, until the end of the glow plug cycle. The click is definitely coming from the voltage regulator. I know the voltage drops because I can hear it in the operation of my electric fuel pump. What's happening?

I would measure the battery voltage during this cycling. If it goes up and down at the battery, then of course the battery has a problem. But I assume the battery is ok since the truck must crank over? It may be like Dealford said, and possibly one of the glowplugs is shorted, pulling the voltage down?
