Headlights very dim....

I have a 2002 F-150 Supercrew 5.4L. I'm having problems keeping headlight bulbs in it. What happens is the OEM bulbs started getting dim, first the driver side then the passinger. I changed them to "super blue" bulbs then they were intermittant one side on the other off, back and forth until both went out. This happened in under 6 months. I then put in "Super white" bulbs and now its starting all over again. When I changed the bulbs each time the plastic wiring harness where the bulbs plug in looked a little "burnt". Any ideas what is going on??

The conectors for the head lights do get burnt up, i belive there is a tech bulliten for that. You can get new ones from ford. The diming problem is probably a ground problem. check the ground wire for bolth head lamps, you may have to trace the wire from the conector back. make sure you have a good clean ground.

The wiring for the headlights is marginal from the factory for the factory lamps. If you install lamps that require more juice, it can aggravate the problem. Besides the lamp plugs and the sheetmetal grounds, other problem areas are the headlight switch plug(can melt), and the multi-function switch where it goes from low to high beam(the plug on that switch can melt too).
