I would like to know if a 285-75-16 tire will have any clearance problems. I have a 04 F250 SD gasser with stock suspension. I don’t know if this is important but it has the FX4 & plowing package. Also what would be the best way to recalibrate the speedo?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
They will fit just fine. My truck and the neighbors speedo's were off from the factory. with the 285/75 they read dead on. Checked with a garmin GPS. Pictures in my Gallery show my truck with stock wheels with the 285's and larger wheels with MT baha claws in 305.
What are you going to do with the truck? Serious trails and off roading?
You can have the dealer re-cal your speedo, or a chip , or a Truspeed.
Like Lashlaroo said, see if you can use a gps setup to see what your at.

No nothing like that, just looking to put a larger tire on the truck.
I just thought of a problem. Will I have to get the frame for Boss plow tweaked due to the new tire size?

I put 285's w/stock rims on my 02 F350 and they worked fine except in hard right or left turns over bumps (like driveways) they would slightly rub the wheel well liners. As for the spedo, the dealer recalibrated it for me.
I had the Garmin and used it for the speedo check but was informed by garmin not to rely on it because it is not exactly accurate due to how it gets its speed info.
I put 285's on my 2002 2wd. No clearance problems here.
I checked the speedo with a GPS as well. It was off before, the GPS shows it dead on after the new tires.
Now, having said that, I got pulled over Friday night. Just a warning, but I had the cruise set on 75 and he clocked me at 77. So it's not dead on, but it's close. My cruise could have been set slightly above 75, though. Kinda hard to center that needle on that white mark.
T_J82 you are correct about rubbing on older models. my 01 would rub on tight turns. my 04 won't hit or rub at all?? I don't know where the difference is, bigger wheel well?? Kable Guy said he had an 04, So he should be ok with the bigger tires and not get any rubbing.
