help please

i just recently bought a 1994 ford f350 turbo diesel 2wd and i noticed the other day when i started it blue smoke came out of the talepipe but once i put it in drive and drove it it was fine i was just wondering if this was normal and if not what to do with it

I have an 87 F250 2x4 it does the same. I have heard of others with that problem. I have been told it possibly was maybe the timing being off a little, but i wouldn't worry about it unless it gets substantially worse.

Blue smoke is oil burning.
The valve stem seals let a little oil down in the combustion chamber while it was setting not running.
Nothing to worry about for quite a while yet.
