My friend and I are going to make a custom lift for my truck about 3-4". He suggested extending the trac bar by cutting it in the center, sliding each end of the cut into a metal sleeve, measure for the needed length and welding the sleeve in place. It seems like a pretty good idea as long as I get thick metal sleeve. Has anyone ever tried this?
that is exactly what i did with mine, cut in the center, got a much thinker steel sleave.slide both ends in....i made the sleeve go all the way the length of the bar.. so the welds are right at the very end where the eyelets are.. for strenth..... welded it in..works great.. mines got 9.5" of front lift.. my friend who lifts these trucks for a living does this procedure routinely
you can do that or you can get an adjustable thingy like on your tierod from ford . Or after market Take you rod down to a machine shop and for about $100 you can have an adj unit..
Brain cramp guy's...The adjuster with the two lock bolts. In the book its called an adjuster. Moog has them in their catalog. I made one for one of my earlier trucks..
