Fry sauce

Have you guys ever heard of fry sauce(a ketchup/mayo blend), because it seem that only Utah stocks/makes this stuff. While visiting neighboring states I walk into a McD's and ask for it and they look at me like I crazy, or they just hand me ketchup(catsup for some of you), fry sauce is so much better. On a trip to Canada I asked for it and they say "gravy?". So, what do you think?

Here in Jersey, there's a restaraunt that makes a blend like that and gives it out with all of their fry orders. Its great stufff, but I never went out of my way to make/buy it. Never heard of it any other place either. Try cream cheese...its good with some fries.

Question

So what all do you do with "fry sauce"? We might start a whole new international fad right here!

It is 2:1 mayo & ketchup blend used to dip french fries, artichokes, or and fried food into, also very good on a hamburger. Some have been know to add a little dill pickle juice and/or black pepper.

I don't like it.
It tastes like Thousand Islands dressing.

In and Out Burger has it but they add relish. I have had fry sauce alot, better than just ketchup. The best thing in the world to dip frys in is Hienz 57 steak sauce!

A friend of mine mixes mayo and ketchup & calls it his favorite chip dip.

Apparently the (Parisienne) French dip their fries in mayo.

The Quebecois French smother their fries in gravy and cheese curds and call it Poutine (poo-teen).

Oh, wait. That's another thread here...

Cheers,
Eric

Sounds good, but I'm gonna pass. I prefer to not call in Roto Roter to ream out my arteries when done with all that mayo .

I like the stuff,, we make low carb versions of it, and have it often.. we also use La Victoria Red Taco Sauce, with mayo - similar to fry sauce, but with a bit of a bite.. Delicious..

I believe that Arctic Circle Hamburgers might have been the first, in my area, to take "secret sauce" and make fry sauce out of it. I know they've had it for at least 20 years. We have a few AC's out here and the bigger franchizes might be trying to compete on an individual basis.

Fry Sauce: Take a couple dollups of mayo and plop in a bowl. Stir with a fork while adding Ketchup till it's about the color of cream of tomato soup, just a little lighter. Add a drop of mustard, a pinch of sugar and a little pickle juice and off you go.

Thousand Island dressing has too much pickle juice. It's the touch of mustard that does it.
