Cracked the block

I just bought a 70 ford wagon with a 429 in it. Its a DOVE-a block with DOVE-c heads. While removing the engine I managed to crack the block through the threads of the lower bell housing bolt. Cracking off the ear down the center of the threads. I want to know if its possible to repair this and if the repair has been done before and what they used. I would think you could weld it on with nickel welding rod and it should hold up fine. Its not a real precision spot it just needs threads. Any ideas would be appreciated.

A good welder can fix that up easily. I have heard of welding these blocks on race engines in many different and more criticle areas with great success. If your a pro welder your all set, if not go and find one locally.
