Hard to say without knowing what tranny and what type fluid, but generally speaking, it should be OK if only the torque converter was filled. If you used Type F instead of Mercon/Dexron, that is OK. You should change the fluid soon after a rebuild, anyway.

I always thought that Dextron was interchangable with Type F... You just cant use Type F in a Dextron Tranny...

We had a rebuild done on our F150 awhile back, and we were told to use Dexron or whatever that stuff is. It used to have FTF in it. We had bought a new torque converter, and he told us to always use the same type...everytime. You should probably take out the plug and drain the thing. We sat our old one over a bucket and unplugged it. There's also a way to turn it over (upside down) and the fluid will eventually drain out. Good luck!!
