Does anyone know why Ford manual say do not add oil treatment to the oil ? It's not just for Escape, Ford said the same thing for my oid Tbird too.
Today's oil has greatly improved since the old "use 10-30 and some STP or Rislone days". The new synthetics and simi-sinthetics like Fords 5-20 that they recommend, is far better than oil was 20 years ago. The reason to not add anything else as Ford says, is because the oil already has a balanced blend of additives in it. If you add something different to the oil it may reduce the original "blend" thus altering it's ability to do its best work. Most additives won't harm anything but they are just extra $ for little benefit. There is no substitute for regular oil changes, it's the best insurance you can buy.. IMHO.... Mojave
