Need Help - Troubleshooting Problems '92 F-150
-If I tap the gas, its pretty slow comming back down to idle.
-When I start it up it revs at 2grand for a minute and works its way down.
-Clutch pedal feel strange. Theres a type of springy action going on with the pedal, When its to the floor its got almost no tension, as I work my up from the floor it gets stronger and stronger, its kind of annoying, this is my first F-150 so I don't know if their all like this. I also hear and feel a 'crack/knock' noise from pedal when I lift it up half way.
-I don't think this is fully related to the weird pedal feeling but the clutch is grabbing funny, it starts out nice and then grabs way too hard (as if I was popping the clutch) even if i hold my foot steady with the pedal. I know its had a new clutch installed before the previous owner bought it back in January but It should be broken in by now..
-When I'm just taking off of 1st gear letting the clutch out i get knocking noises comming from trans, could this possibly be the trans mount?
-When I'm using the wipers or adjusting speeds I hear 'tick' noises comming from glove box area.
-My power stearing pump is pretty noisey..fluid is fine. I know fords are like this but its pretty darn loud.
-I bought the truck with an old alpine headunit which screen does not work anymore, Would like to remove it and install my JVC but I don't know how to get at the radio. I already installed rear 6x8's but I can't get the door pannels off to install the front ones.
-The chassis and underbody has some real heavy nasty lookin' rust. its eating away at the protective plates under the bed already, Whats the best thing to do to tackle all of this rust.
-Last but not least, Its due for oil change, shocks, and tune up, what are some quailty parts I should Install? I'm thinking about giving the truck a little lift in the near future.
There ya have it, alot of noises and annoyances. Can you tell its my first F-150?
Maybe you guys can give me some advice and help me out! Its 2 in the morning and im dead tired so my spelling might be a little off
Hopefully I'll get some good replys for the morning! Thanks
-Mike

i will try to help you on some of these problems.
trans knock could be bad clutch disc or universal joint.
wiper tick is normal. circuit is over there.
you need a manual. door panels are easy to take off. undo any screws, door handle window crank, the rest is snap-on clips around outside.
on radio go to a stereo shop and ask one of the workers that instal stuff if they will help you.
on rust make sure all the suspension pieces are not rusted thru, like the rear spring shackles.
use motorcraft for oil filter and any thing else the truck needs. use a good detergent oil to manufacturers specs.
last do individual searches for your problems and if you post again just ask one question in the head, you will get more responses.
all for now.
good luck

Clean IAC and throttle body (unless it is one of those Teflon lined "do not clean" throttle bodies.) Check for vaccuum leaks. Run a KOER test and see what the ECM thinks of the idle setting.
2 grand then slows down --
Same story as above. Maybe somebody mis-adjusted the throttle plate.
Clutch grabbing --
Maybe there is oil on the face of the linings? Maybe the installation was a poor job -- could the friction plates be in backwards?
Tick in wipers?
Mine doesn't have this -- at least not that I've noticed.
Power steering noisy --
My F150 and Explorer are both noisy when the wheel is turned and the vehicle is stopped, but don't make any objectionable sound otherwise.
Quality parts --
Use a Motorcraft filter, not Fram.
i checked my timming, its perfect.
im really worried about that clutch problem the most though..i mean im starting to get use to it, but i don't think its right..
Thanks for the replys, sorry for posting so many things in one post.
P.S. I would never use fram..
