hey guys, i pulled a 351 and what i thought was for sure a C6 tranny out of an 89 f-150 this week to put in a race truck project of mine. as i was reading the haynes manual, it says in 1988 they started supplementing the C6 with the E40D. since it says they started "supplemmenting" and not replacing, i was wondering how i can figure out which tranny i have?

i dont know if it was a three speed or a four speed because i bought the vehicle for the engine,tranny and a few other miscelaneous parts, and removed them promptly after aquiring the vehicle. i will get that other info tommorow. now that i think about it, there was definitely an electrical connection of some sort that i disconected form the tranny, i believe only one.
