Unhappy Steering column

Any of you guys have a ingeniuos way of tightening up your steering column without replacing the whole thing. Everything is tight except the slip joint and it is starting to drive me nuts. Maybe some kind of spacer or something . want it to still be safe , but tight.
Any help will be much appreciated. Figured i better post this as to i need help and Mr T at the top of the page keeps threatening me with violence.

On the older Broncos there are three allen head bolts that loosen up. They are visible if you remove the plastic shroud on the column and look toward the back of the wheel, about two inches back from the turn signal stalk. I tightened mine, and it took a lot (but not quite all) of the slop out. I can't say it'll work, but it gives you another place to look...

Mine is a 96, does that still apply. I can pull the plastic shroud off and feel the looseness of the joint ,if i grease it with some really thick grease it helps untill the heat from the motor melts it off.

You are talking about the callapsible center main shaft- right.Replaced quite a few years back under warranty, other than welding two together(I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS) either replace or live with it.

Thumbs up

Thanks Trublufords, I appreciate the info . Thought i would try and see if anyone tried making a shim or something like it that would'nt interfere with the integrity of the part. I think i am going to try!!
