I have a cool start remote starter in my 2004 f250 sd king ranch 6.0 and i love it.. It has the turbo timer built in so u can let the turbo cool down after a long ride or heavy towing.. I paid 200 installed and it is well worth the money..

Did you have it installed at a dealership or another place? And does it affect the warranty at all?
though I don't have any actual useage experience, I read on this site about the Ford Gold remote start which I am having the dealer install on our 05 sd cc which has a scheduled build date of 10/11/04. If I remember right, the remote has a delay for the glowplugs and a shutdown timer as well for the turbo.
hope this helps.
I think Ford has changed the name since I had my Ford Gold Remote installed byu the dealer when I purchased the 03 X...
and yes it does have a shutdown timer... 10 minutes is MORE than enough...
I've only used it twice though in 18 months and 37k+ miles.... http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/...id=&refer=link

I believe I may have read your post once before as I remember the above, just wondering if you wait for the turbo to wind down then, or is not as important as it is made out to be?
Although I do have a little diesel experience, this will be my first very own. Ultimately, for this kind of $$$, I want to do everything possible to protect the life of this truck.
P.S.- Only 7 more days till they start building my baby!!
I is called a cool start remote starter and i had it installed at a local performance shop.. It does not effect the warranty in any way.. It is a great system for the money..

It's not like I slam into the garage @ 5000 rpms and shut it down or anything if that's what u mean....
I just drive normal for a few minutes before shutting down at idle rpm and that's fine....
Looks interesting, and they have a model that can "upgrade" factory remote system.
I found several other remote start systems including the "Ford Gold" (which is made by Code Alarm) and the Cool Start system is the only one that says it has turbo timer mode.
Lots of impressive features, and the OEM upgrade system has MSRP of only $99.95 however you are limited to the range of the OEM keyfob.
I had the dealer install a Ford silver or bronze, can't remember exactly now. [I have a Lariat with power everything, so it's probaly the bronze]. It's covered under warranty, and it works very well. Delay off for cooldown. And it works from a long distance through windows and cement parking structures. I use mine every morning before work because I have a fairly steep half mile long climb a half mile from my house. I just can't see hitting that hill every day with a cold engine.
I have the remote starter from Ford, (Silver model)...Installed by dealer, and it works awesome. I use it almost every day in the winter months..It has great range, (will surprise you). Highly recommended.
