Ok, I've replaced both fuel pumps and the relay switch and it still won't run. It will fire for a split second and then die. We checked for juice at the pump in the tank and the tester light pulsated - much like a blicker light does - is this normal. And finally does the inertia switch over ride the relay switch to cut off fuel or vice versa. Could the inertia switch be the culpret? The only other components I did not replace are the fuel filter and fuel regulator. How much pressure should the system have? Can I check it? (BTW I have checked and there is spark, so it's not a simple plug or coil problem)
You can check pressure at the fuel rail. There is a test port. Don't remember exact presure but 30# would start it. It sounds as though you might be testing the tank sending unit wire. It does pulse. Fuel pump will power up for 2 sec. when the key is turned on and will power up during cranking for as long as you are holding key in start. Power flow is from the pump relay to the enertia switch and then to the pump.
Check the ground connection near the neg. post. Two black wires going into a plastic terminal. This is a computer ground and will prevent starting and does not stop spark.
