85 F250 4x4 4.9L

Went to start truck, just clicked. Replaced solenoid, same problem...Started banging on starter and finally turned over. Bad starter, no problem got that changed and while I was at it, saw a really bad negative cable coming off the battery. Changed that out as well. Now when I start the truck, I get a tick that I have never had before. Is it related to changing the starter and or the negative cable? Sounds like a lifter knock possibly?

Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated.

 

Check your exhaust manifold. A buddy of mine told me that it was my exhaust making the ticking noise (because of a leak). This on a brand new motor with 14k miles on it.
