My Dad has a 1976 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT Red, White, and Blue
It's 2 Tone Green with a 390 and a Holley 4 Barrel Carb. Inside, It has a fake burlwood dash with the Steering wheel insert for the horn in fake burlwood, and
Green **** Carpet, not cut pile. I can't find the dash trim, steering trim or carpet anywhere, was this not a regular feature of the truck, any information would be greatly appreciated on the type of truck or were to look for the parts
The Ranger XLT was the 'top of the line' at the time. Most of the 73-79s did NOT have the wood trim. Replacement carpet is available through several of the sponsors like the Parts Shop Auto Krafters. The wood trim is not being reproduced, salvage yards and swap meets are the only hope.
Out of curiousity the XLT are each on a square and the squares are =
X is on Red
L is on White
T is on Blue
is there any significance to that, also when I look up on the internet I can't seem to find information on an F150 Ranger, It's usually one or the other where as this one is both.
I'm asking because my dad seems to think the colors symbolize a Bicenntinial Year Truck, Also who is dennis carpenter.
I believe Ford did the red, white, blue on the 1976 year models only, in reference to the bicentennial - all the '76 XLTs were that way. But there was also a Bicentennial truck with special eagle decals offered.
Dennis Carpenter Reproductions is a good source for replacement parts. I was not aware of them reproducing the wood grain dash... that's good to know.
Also what about the carpet. anyone ever had **** carpet come factory in their truck? and if there is a replacement, and no I don't mean cut pile I Mean ****, what company makes it
also i'm not looking for the woodgrain around the glove box, I'm looking for the Fake Burlwood Dash Bezel, the part around the instrument cluster, was that a common option?
The Ranger XLT was the 'top of the line' at the time. Most of the 73-79s did NOT have the wood trim
I don't know if you are generalizing 73-79 but almost all XLT model's had the woodgrain
That was a very common option. Dennis carpenter has both of them reproduced and they did a fantastic job on remaking them as I have bought both from them and they look great, a little pricey but well worth it.
I also think the red, white and blue is only significant to the 76 era.
