instrument panel light question
Have a 76 ford f-100 w/ 390, auto. The instrument panel lights have never worked since I bought the truck. I checked the fuse and it was ok., but there is no power going to the fuse holder. All the other fuses have power and work fine. I checked the wire going to the fuse and it has no power. I have tried tracing the wire to see if I could find any problems but it goes into a big cluster and disappears. The one question I really have is: Does the power go to the fuse block then the switch then the lights? or does it go to the switch first, then the fuse block then lights? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
BTW I checked the switched first to make sure the dash lights were not turned down or off by twisting it.

I was curious, so I looked at a diagram for a truck a little bit later model than yours, and the instrument light fuse is actually fed from the headlight switch. So your problem may actually be the dimmer control in the headlight switch, if we are to assume that Ford wired this the same for your earlier truck.
