Sounds like you are ready to upgrade to the WARN hubs. You could ask around to see if someone has their old set that are still good. I have yet to find someone with a surefire way of fixing the old hubs when they sieze up.
My hubs on my 2000 S/D will not budge! My 4WD seems to work. The hubs are froze in the auto position! What to do? Thanks! In advance!!
I also have 2000 S/D crew cab. The auto hub is so still you can hardly turn it. When I put in 4wd, it takes it awhile to work its way back to 2wd. I have to back up and brake hard.
Using a pair of pliers locate the snap ring tabs sitcking out from the hub. Using the pliers press them together and pull the ring from around the inside of the hub. Now it gets fun. You may be lucky and just pull the hub itself off. Trying using a piece of wood and hammer to tap loose the hub. Just remember there is a rubber o-ring that helps seal the hub to the housing. It will come loose just keep trying.

Then what should i do at this point to lubricate/clean?
