93 F-150 Trans problem

My friend has a 1993 ford F-150 with a A4OD trans. He had the trans rebuilt 7 months ago and now it is slipping out of overdrive and the check engine light is coming on. Anyone have any clues what we can look for? The truck is only used light duty and does not tow anything.

I'm confused as to which tranny you're talking about. Ford made an AOD, and an E4OD, but never an A4OD.

It may be an E4OD. I am not as well versed on fords and my friend is even less so than me. Sorry about that.
