Subwoofer Woes
New user to FTE and currently deployed in Iraq. Have already spent many hours in the forums and galleries. Great site!
The good news... Was recently home on leave and purchased a new FX4 F150!
The BAD news. I also found that the bass in my '01 EB Expy was completely blown out.
I did not troubleshoot it before I had to return... something about my wife wanting me to spend time with her and the kids... I obliged, of course. But I REALLY wanted to fix it... especially as she threatened to drive my truck until it got fixed...
I'll be headed home for good (or at least until NEXT time), and I'd really like to get it fixed ASAP when I get back.
My questions:
What is it that usually goes out in the Subwoofer... the amp or the speaker?
How do I test which one it is?
Do you recommend OEM or aftermarket to replace?
Rough costs of each?
BTW... I am sold on the Polk Audio conversion mentioned in another thread... would like to order that and get it installed while I'm fixing this...
