I have a 2000 Ford Expi Eddie Bauer, 5.4ltr 58k miles.(ok, its my wifes)...and the gages peg at startup as soon as the engine catches, they do return to normal after about a second. My question is ....is this normal or a voltage regulator problem?
I don't drive it that much to remember if it did this when we bought it (used)...
The guages have their own voltage regulator in the instrument cluster(the older trucks did anyway). Let's wait and see if anybody else with an Expedition replies and either says it's normal or not. If it's not normal, you might try the instrument cluster regulator.
Its a common symtom of a low battery. The hybrid electronic cluster is doing a reset/selftest as a result. Check the battery first, and the charging system.
