Jet Modules and Higher octane fuel.

Hi,

Couple of questions:
My newly aquired Bronco has a Jet Module installed by the previous owner. Their website claims up to 30hp more and better response. Anyone else got one? Comments?

Also, English Gas is a higher octane than the US AFAIK, ours is 95 standard and 98 for the Super whereas I seem to remember yours hovers around 87? How would you expect this to affect the Bronco in terms of performamce, reliablility etc.

Btw, its a '92 302 Auto EB from CA.

Thanks

Simon

Had a Jet Chip, got rid of it when I discovered that they only apply their performance tuning modifications to the computer when the throttle is wide open. Hypertech does the same thing. Only Diablo and Superchips programmers modify the factory tuning at all throttle positions.

Smile jet chip

I have a jet module in my 95 302. Honestly, never felt any diff. other than at 75 to 100% throttle. I have done some extensive mods since then, th.body, cam, exhaust ,ign.,cam, maf (80), 24 lb. injectors, intake manifold, and edelbrock manifold also pulley set. I'm having a custom chip burnt now to pull more power. I would also recommend getting someone to do a custom . Diablo, superchips and jet will all do it. I'm using a local guy because he put the truck on a dyno to get more precise curves . About the gas, stick with the higher octane. I use 93,94 and still use octane boost in her.

not to jump in a disagree but I have a low mileage bronco with a 5.0 and I was getting 10-12 mpg. I installed a jet chip and the gas mileage increased to around 18 mpg back roads and 22 highway on 93 at the pump. this is all accomplished by driving sensibly and I had noticed a difference from stock at all ranges of throttle.

Artistic, when I first heard the story about Jet chips, I had one installed in my Bronc. I had not done adequate research, and I too thought I had seen a performance increase. Upon hearing that Jet only works at WOT I sent them an email asking the question. They sent me a very evasive answer, so I sent them a more specific email. They did not reply. I sent several more emails, still no reply. I called their customer service number and spoke with a technical representative. He danced around my questions for a good ten minutes, never giving me specific answers to my questions. I quickly grew tired of this and pinned him down. The following were the specific questions and answers I received from JET tech themselves:
1. Does your JET Ford Performance Module function at all throttle positions?
JET answer: NO
2. Is it true that the JET Ford Performance Module only modifies the stock tuning curve at Wide Open Throttle?
JET answer: YES
3. Does the JET Ford Performance Module perform ANY function at any throttle position other than WOT?
JET answer: NO
4. Why don't you clearly state these things on your web site so that consumers can make an informed purchase?
JET answer: Because we are not required to.

Those were the answers straight from the proverbial horses mouth. I remember the questions so clearly because I wrote them down before I called JET so that I would not forget to ask each and every one when I had them on the phone. My research to avoid wasting another $300 led me to ask the same questions of Hypertech. I received the same answers to questions 1 through 3 from Hypertech. When I asked question number 4, the tech guy hung up on me.
You can draw whatever conclusions from your personal experience that you wish. The bottom line is that only SUPERCHIPS and DIABLO provide performance tuning at all throttle positions. If anybody runs around all the time with your pedal on the floor and wants a JET Ford Performance module, give me a shout. I will not put it on Ebay or anywhere else because I refuse to rip anybody off.

Well, I decided to take my truck out on the open road yesterday to see what everyone was talking about. I mashed the peddle to the floor and noticed that it did not hook up until about 75% throttle, The truck squats and then downshifts way too hard before letting go. I am sorry if I led anyone the wrong way...It looks like JET got another one Can anyone give me a part # for the superchip or diablo chip for my 94 5.0 bronco? I would appreciate it.

I use the SUPERCHIPS 1715 tuner on my Bronco and love the results. If you want even more power, or if you have upgrades beyond basic intake and exhaust, you will want to get a custom chip from DIABLO. Click on the "Parts Shop" icon at the top of the page and follow the links.
