hard up shift
I recently purchased a 91' F-150 w/ a 351. E4OD trans. it up shifts hard about 40% of the time. the kid that owned it prior had it looked at, and was told it was something electrical, and would cost $350. shift modulator?

??... Try a TPS. SOME times & I mean sometimes this is what's wrong. They're about $35 at your local parts store. Other problems can include manual position sensor, broken check valve springs in the v-body etc. The good news is that your tranny is still capable of making a firm shift, that means the plates and disks, as well as the pistons are still O.K. I just fixed this problem on "1" truck by replacing the TPS, however on a friend's truck it's still a mystery. "Take it to a dealer" is what I told him.
