Bedside seams

I'm almost ready to paint on my 69' f-250 4x4. On the bed sides where the seams are met together (just above the raised trim) is there supposed to be a gap or should it be smooth? I have put automotive sealer in the seam but haven't brought it out all the way flush yet. The original bed had bondo in the seam, so I'm not sure how they came originally. Thanks for any help, Brian.

It's not supposed to be flush, it's suppposed to have whatever a finger wiping indention is. Two coats of sealant with water on fingers makes for a really nice seam!
