I'm a novice, too, but it didn't stop me from going ahead and doing it anyways! The first step is determining how big a site you'll need. If you're selling a few items now and then, the website your internet service provider gives you should do just fine. If you're looking to sell a LOT of merchandise with lots of traffic, then you'll need something a little more "heavy-duty." And what about eBay? You can set up a website through them for very little money, and there's no better place to sell stuff.
