What's it worth?
Hey, I'm new to the truck scene, been doing mustangs for awile. A guy I work with has a 66 f100 with a 352, auto, ac, swb, baby blue and white truck for sale. It does not run has a blown head gasket(?) and been sitting in his garage for 8 yrs. Truck is super clean only one small spot of rust above the windshield and a little on the tailgate. I was thinking about buying it with the intention of getting it running and reselling it. I don't know what it is worth in its current and restored state, any ideas? Thanks for the help.

The Prices are subject to a lot of Variables from location you're in, to overall general condition of the speciman, what model it is, Ranger, Custom Cab, Standard Cab, and so forth, on thru current economy & all that. Essentially worth is determined by buyers in any case. They will not pay more than the truck is worth to them.
Yota got a deal, believe me. BUT he carried home pieces - parts he had to put back together. I bet he won't part with it for $150, huh. Never the less I buy "Slicks" that do and/ or don't run from $150 - $200 on up.
I've also sold "done" trucks for close to $10K for a total Off Frame Resto or Resto Rod Truck so as you can see, the prices are all over the place. I'm a Pro Builder & I have turned down over $10K for my own 66 SWB "Resto Rod - Truck". It's just not for sale. I've had it for over 30 years. . . .
In the Southeast and Southwest, non Urban areas these trucks can be had for less than they cost in the North. They're just more plentiful. Realistically a decent turn key driver should bring between $2500 & $5000 depending on variables above. Obviously the nicer a finished truck is, the more you can get, or will need to pay, for it. I've also seen guys asking ridiculous prices, $15K & more for trucks I wouldn't pay $500 for. It's same as with Mustangs, and that goes for "Vintage Stangs" or "Foxes Bodies" as well. It all depends on a whole bunch of stuff. Well same with these "Slick 60s" F100 Trux.
Head Gaskets aren't usually problematic in FE Engines. A 352cid V8 is definitely an FE.
I personally would be skeptical of that diagnosis. What problem does it display? ALso I would suspect you will need to do complete brakes too. If I got to do complete brakes on a 66 F100 I'd definitely do the Disc Brake upgrade/ conversion from a mid 70s F100 or F150 before I spent spit on drum brakes in the front. It's worth up to $1000 more at sale time with PDBs than Manual Drum Front Brakes.
This is a top site & forum for these trucks, AND FWIW a 66 Ford F100 SWB Styleside is supposedly 2nd or 3rd most desirable collectable FoMoCo truck. So 1966 F100 Ford you mentioned is a good start IMHO.
