Smaller Exhaust - Better Performance ! ! !
First exhaust. I installed a 3" catback system, which consisted of an Aero-Turbine muffler and resonator. (I installed the muffler first but then realized I needed the resonator because I leave for work at O-dark-Thirty and the neighbors would just kill me because of the loud exhaust.)
Performance:
Performance is excellent at 2,500 RPM and higher. The problem is that I don't drive the truck like that. I consistently had to take it out of overdrive in the city. On highway with cruise control was good. Didn't hear exhaust if engine didn't have to work.
Second exhaust. I installed a 2 1/2" catback system, which consisted of an Aero-Turbine muffler and resonator.
Performance:
Excellent in city and very good on highway. Also, much quieter and I don't have to take it out of overdrive anymore.
side note:
I must say, sometimes I miss the 3" system. When you get the RPM’s over 2,500 the truck would just fly. Effortless acceleration. Oh, what a blast.
2nd side note:
The Aero-Turbine is very similar to a straight pipe but the “Aero” has some kind of cone inside which helps speed up the velocity of the exhaust gases and thereby increasing performance.
