New here

And just introducing myself, I have many questions to ask but I'll try and search around for a bit first lol. The Escape is actually my moms, but she isn't too computer savvy so I'm her representative lol, and I hope I'm accepted here. Personally I have a 2003 ZX3 w/a few mods, and I'm a huge Focus enthusiast. I'll leave ya with a shot of our cars

I searched a bit but I'm just gonna ask lol....anyone have a K&N filter? Like it? Also, know where I can vid/soundclip of an Escape w/Magnaflow or other exhausts? I haven't heard any on an Escape and was wondering what they sound like.

Welcome to FTE Romac!

I'm not new, but new to the Escape realm (I'm known mostly for Explorers) . I just bought an 05 Limited for my wife, so I'm in the same boat as you on the mods.

I have seen a Mac kit for the Escapes, and I know you can get chips and tuners for Escapes. I'm going to be getting a tuner from Ken at Motorhaven. Check in the Computer Chip section - you should have some luck there...

Sorry, I can't help you myself, I've imposed a "mod moritorium" on my escape... I'm not going to do anything (so I don't know anything) till it's paid off.

I added the K&N air filter 2 weeks ago. So far, can't feel any difference. I only got 1200 miles on my escape. Maybe it will get better later.

I tried to join escape-central, and after making a post much like this one I was banned, I guess they thought I was trolling or somethin, so thanks for accepting me lol. Cobra XP is that your explorer in your avatar? Looks pretty nice from what lil bit I can see lol. Echoy where'd you get your k&n and how much? Remember what the part # was? And samckernan, you'll get the mod bug. You can try to fight it, but it always wins lol. Thanks again guys.

THe part number is 33-2187. All the local store here don't have it in stock, and if they order it , it will cost me $55. I got mine from http://www.autopartsauthority.com/
including shipping cost me under $50.

You might want to add a cabin filter too. You can use FRAM air filter CA 4303 as cabin filter. I got it from Walmart for $5. There was someone posting links here showing how to add the cabin filter.

Lot's of owners use the K&Ns... the only caution is when the time comes to clean and re-oil it. I have herd of cases of owners putting too much oil and fouling the MAF sensor.. The sensor can be cleaned but it is very delicate. Otherwise just keep it locked out of O/D at speeds below 45-50 and enjoy the performance. Keeping Escapes out of overdrive in town locks the torque converter when in 3rd and saves wear and heat buildup caused by the CD4Es habit of hunting when around 40-45 speeds, constantly unlocking and re locking the converter... I think you will enjoy your escape.. I have found they handle curves much better than their bigger brothers.....
