New Torq Con and FTVB

I picked up my truck today. I finally got it back YEAH!!! It has a replacement trans to which I added a Precision Industries T/C and a FTVB. To say the shifts are firm is an understatement. Other than that she's running strong. My friend who works there was concerned that the shifts were to firm. He said when towing a heavy load to be easy on the gas because with that firm of a shift under heavy throttle somethings gotta give.

I would tend to agree with your friend there. If you have barking tires when it shifts, well that's the "give". But if you load it up with a bunch of weight with that huge torque spike on the shift - well then something else is going to give. U-joints would be my guess.

I currently have the SCMT in my truck. Im wondering if switching to the Diablo tuner would help. My thought process is this. The SCMT boosts up the line pressure, so with the FTVB in Im getting a double wammy of pressure. If I use the Diablo it allows me to choose how much boost I want or leave it stock. So I'm wondering if the stock setting with the FTVB would smooth the shifts a little bit. I guess I can tune the truck back to stock now and see what happens with the shifts?
