EEC-V for last 460's?
A bit hard to believe, yes. But you should have seen me dancing in the gas station when I took my last mileage reading of 17.5 MPG.
One thing to note: The other reason that I am getting good mileage is the fact that I keep my engine RPM's at 1500. This was the first thing I did. Wanted to find out for myself about driving habits. Most of my driving is on flat or relatively flat highways. I try to avoid mountain passes. Not always possible.
No I do not coast in neutral down hills or tailgate semi's or any of the other ways to cheat mileage. That would not be productive. Sorry but that is usually the first thing that people accuse me of when they hear my mileage. Just wanted to get it out of the way.
Bear with me I am a newby from across the Pond in the UK.
I've been reading through the various threads trying to find answers to my problem, which hopefully someone on here will be able to help.
1) my MPG is 7.5 which being on a 1997 (F-550) F-Super Duty Motorhome Stripped Chasis weighing in at 6500kg is to be expected.
2) I have a EEC-IV with ODB 1 with no Cat.!
3) RV starts first time, every time but a little rough, it stays rough throughout the warming up cycle. Open the throttle it goes up through the revs but still alittle rough. Pull away and it has about 3/4 power.
4) Connected a Ford Code reader and came up with the following
KOEO--11.......OK
KOER--538....Very confusing, the Ford Book says "Invalid Cylinder Balance test due to throttle movement during test" WHICH THERE WASN'T.. tried 3 times the same result each time. HOWEVER. Chilton says "Insufficient RPM change during KOER dynamic response test / Operator error.
Any ideas would be helpful.
I will say that I have already changed:- Fuel filter; Spark Plugs; Spark Leads; Coil.
