2004 Expedition Lemon

First off let me say that I have owned Fords for years and have loved them all. I have given Ford Motor Company a lot of money and support. I now have a 2004 Expedition EB nightmare and they have left me out in the cold.
At 3,000 miles we heard and felt vibration and growling at 20, and 50mph. It really makes the noise while going up a small incline. So far the dealer has replaced the ring and pinion three times and the drive line once. They put 120 wt. oil in the rear end to get it to quiet down. Of course on the final attempt to fix the car the Ford rep said the noise was with in specs. Who's specs I don't know.
They offered to pay my next months bill and upgrade my warranty if I would go away. (That's not going to happen)
Now I have the problems with the air conditioner rattle when first starting the car and the mold smell. I have Continental tires that are so out of shape and causing noise. I also have brake problems. They are saying that I have to have new rotor because if they turn them they won't be under the specs. The pads have 2 c's left.
My car at this point has 24,000 miles on it and I am going to go through with the lemon law proceedings and see what happens.
The Ford Company sends faxes on a regular basis to the dealers about the ring and pinion problem. The parts are a new item from a new manufaturer. The brakes are also a "new thing." I know this because the mechanic and the service manager told me.
Does anyone out there have similar stories. If so please share them with me.
Thank you,
Debbie

Thats scarry. I just bought a 2004 XLT but it has less than a 1000 miles I am fighting trying to get the glass replaced. Glass was damaged by dealer prep crew trying to remove severe water/chemical spots on glass now it is all scratched. Wating to hear from factory rep. Been in 3 times can't fix it. Told dealer new glass or new vehicle their choice.

Califronia has good lemon law if I need it as it is now a safety issue now can't see through windshield when sun low looks like a NASCAR Cup Car going into sun.

Don't wait to start your lemon law case. I would go on line for Ca. Lemon Law application and get started. Keep all of your invoices.

Good Luck!

I am with you on the problems on the truck. Love the functionality, etc, but am tired of my truck spending time at the service dept, again and again for the same problems. Same issues with the shake, had the noise from rear dif., rattle in drivers door that does not go away, rotors machined twice and now just replaced, a/c freezes up, front seat cushion replaced twice now due to the foam crumbling apart, body cladding just replaced due to fade, brakes replaced due to excessive dust on chrome wheels. Hmm, am I forgetting anything. I would hope that is more than enough. Ford needs to step up and start taking some responsibility for these vehicles, rather than having us keep fighting over and over again for resolutions.

The Dealer called today after I sent a not to nice Email to customer rep asking when my truck was going to be repaired/replaced. 1hr later got Email saying factoy rep. will be in tommorow and to bring it in. I bought this vechile on Sept 9 and almost 30 days later the rep is going to see it. I think the Dealer was stonewalling hoping I would give up. If they don't replace all the glass then we go to the next step whick is the Ford abatration board with my attorney. This has taken far to long to solve this issue. I think the Dealer should take the hit not Ford, The dealer scratched the glass trying to remove water spots not Ford.
This is not a Factory defect it is a Dealer F up.

Just replace the glass. What's the dealer's problem? If they messed it up, they replace it-simple as that. My brother replaces windshields and glass for mass produced vehicles is relatively inexpensive. Make sure they give you OEM (not that it really matters), but just for your inconvenience.

The customer relations person who is in charge of this is also the one who has be stonewalling this thing hoping I would go away. I am not. It is pretty obvious to anyone who see the window that someone use 0000 steel wool on the glass. The dealer messed up and I want my expensive vehicle fixed. It would take maybe and day and half to replace all the glass. about 1 1/2 hrs for windshield. less than and hour for the tailgate glass. and a few hours for each of the 4 door glass. Tlhe Sales manager is the one who put in on the Factory Rep. He would not authorize the replacement of the glass. When it is fixed or the vehicle is replaced I will find another dealer to do the warranty and service work. I really have a sour taste in my mouth over this. So much so that I have lost all faith in this Dealer. This should have been over with the middle of last month.

tbr3345, those same "spots" are probably all over the paint and other surfaces also. Probably some chemical overspray that the vehicle got on it during transport.

It was not done during transport. The vehicle sat on the storage lot from January of0 o4 untill Sept of 04 the vehicle had been washed by a contractor who goes from dealer to dealer washing vehicles it was not rinsed or dried properly besides being washed in the Hot California sun. The paint is spotted but I don't want them to touch it. My neighor is a detail man and will take care of the paint after the glass. If they had used somthing besides an abrasive pad or 0000 steel wool they would not have damage the glass. I look like some used a buffer on the glass.

Good Luck

My 03 EB has an air conditioner that bangs like an explosion when it turns on and sometimes cools and sometimes no cool and the dealer can't fix it,rattles in all the doors, outside mirrors that do what they want to do and I just replaced all the Conti's with only 17,000 miles on them, noisy and out of round.I have given up on the dealer.Best one when I was folding up the powerfold rear seats a piece of trim broke off and hits me in the face. This is my third Expy,Think I'll buy another?
