My right front break locks up when the brakes are applied usually after it's rained or it's really damp outside & my truck sits for a few hours when I drive off then go to stop if I just barely touch the break peddle it locks up so bad I've flat spotted my tire. Can ya help me out here? 97 F-150
Are you positive that it's not a rear brake locking up? It's a very common problem. Ford came up with new shoes to cure it. Quite often just cleaning and adjusting the rear brakes will help though.
IIIIIIIIIIII'm pretty sure it's the right front, that tire has flat spots all around it. More flat spots than tread at this point, thanks for the response though.
Are the flat spots maybe just feathering or cupping from bad shocks or an alignment problem?
Try cleaning out your back brakes and see what happens. A quick way to do that is to remove the brake adjuster plug from the backing plate and stick your garden hose in there to flush out all the dust.
Always make sure you dont breathe brake dust because it can cause cancer etc.
