I have an 89 Bronco II that I bought a few months ago. Love the car but it makes a strange thump sound. In 2wd it will sometimes make a thump sound when I am comming to a stop. But when its in 4wd low I can make it thump simply by tapping the gas. When I hit the gas it thumps once and when I let off it thumps once. The thump seems to be comming from the front left side of the car. I have taken the car to two different mechanics one said radius arm bushings and the other said it could be the auto locking hubs. So now I have new radius arm bushings and Warn manual hubs. Yet the thump continues. Anyone have any ideas????
i have learned my lesson .anytime you hear or see anything strange first thing jack the wheels up and give em a good shake......if you have read any of my recent post about wiggles and glinks.... jacking it up and checking my save you truck and your health.....
i have found a improper installed rear axel pin that made a thud when it wiggled ( the thud was the axel trying to fly off) and a front bearing that had been chewed up ( the other thud was the left front hub trying to fly off)
....jack er up give her a good shake and let us know what ya find.
anyone know anything about these front bearings??????

So I did the check for the ball joints and felt nothing but the car moving. If the ball joints were bad what should I have noticed? Is there an easy way to check the ujoints and what should I be looking for with those?
Unless you happen to have garage floor space, jackstands etc., why not let your local service station put it up in the air and check it over? Couldn´t cost much.
