Keep a Ford, FORD!!!!!!

Why do people have to ruin a ford truck by putting a che^y motor in it. Here's the story. I was driving today around my college and at a local radiator shop I see this great 64 ford short wide bed(kinda rare). So I stopped and took a look at it. It had bucket seats a B&M auto shifter. The paint had just been done and no rust. I start reading the paper in the window, and it's got a 350 che^y in it and a 400 auto tranny! I couldn't beleive it, The guy ruined a perfect truck by putting that che^y stuff in it. It's too bad people have to do that to such a nice truck. I had to tell someone the story to let off some steam. I feel better now.

I have always wondered about that too. I suppose they might do something like that if they happened to have a motor and tranny on hand. Speaking of the short-wides...One of my dad's friends has a '64 or '65 4x4 with a built 390 and 4 speed. (At least the body is a '64 or 5, I think it's setting on a '70something chassis with disc brakes etc. but at least it's all Ford!) It doesn't look like much but is a pretty solid truck.

I think they may have been dropped on their head numerous times when they were younger, causing permanent brain damage.

What I can't stand is when someone fixes up a 34 Ford coupe and has no hood and there is a small block Ch**y engine sitting there. I think the exhaust port configuration of that engine with the two middle cylinders side by side looks goofy. That car should have a Ford 351 V8. I have heard that folks use small block Ch**y engines because they are a dime-a-dozen.

TPaul is right.
I have researched this va real life and the net and find most do it cause they want a rod but the mouse is cheaper so there is were they cut the corner in street rod building!A chevy guy would kill me with that statement!hehe
A flat head Ford was all the rage for years then the chevy v8 came out and evrybody had to have one!Even NHRA pres Wally Parks had a mouse in a late 50's/early 60's Merc!
And they just stayed popular.(SnowBalling)
I just love seeing rods built with Ford,Chrysler motors.
In fact, according to the "rod" guys the rage now is to get away from the sb chev cause it has gotten old quick!
I dont give a chevy powered rod a glance anymore cause that just shows there talent and intrest in it.
My favorite rod i ever saw was a 33Dodge with a 426 Hemi, black w/ flames big white walls. That image stayed with me.

They use chevy engines because they are cheap to build try building a small block ford compared to a small block chevy, and big blocks are half the money of a ford 460 they're cheap and easy so they use them It's a shame to cut up a ford truck or car for that matter and put a chevy engine in it but I see it all the time at shows when I take my ford powered mustangs

You guy's beat me to it, I was gonna say cheap too. I know that GM's are cheaper to get power from than Ford's. That doesn't make it better though. We all know that Ford's are better in the long run.

If I was a car show judge, I'd skip the Ford cars with GM engines. I was watching the Chevy show, and a manager at Chevy had a old Ford car with a Gm engine. Bah!

I have the answer! They put Chxxx engines in them because they always want to work on them, that and to have people ask them about their truck.

I had some goofy 14 year old ask me one day when I pulled up to a gas station in my 66 Mustang, if I had a 327 chexxx in it.
I told him that a heart transplant like that won't work. My car would have puked em out every time.

I think your on to something with the brain damage theory, also the "dime dozen theory" is a good one too! That also explains why Ford parts are so much more expensive, we don't need parts constantly!!!!

You should hear about the 66 I'm looking at.

66 F-100, 427 3 Deuce, 4 speed!

Ooh, drool drool! I can't wait to get the pictures of it from the owner! If I decide to buy it, I can't wait to see what the people down here in my neck of the woods do!
