Does the distance between the spring perches match?

55,

If it's out of a Ford truck 57-72 it should be the right width. What does your old rear measure flange to flange? They should be very close, but an inch or two difference should not be a problem.

The stock measurement flange to flange is 57". You may be ok if you run stock size tires - otherwise you'll need to think about different backspacing on the wheels you use.

As Eric said, if the spring perches don't match you'll need to cut these off and re-weld them 'em at the right spot.

Thank you for the replies!

This particular rearend isnt mine. I just used a picture I found on the web. (mines in my gallery) On mine, I have the spring perches cut off, and will be welding new ones on in the right position. I took my rearend to Hughes Differentials, here in San Diego. He does race cars, but told me that when time comes to throw mine in, he will come to the house and weld them in so the pinion angle is correct. So this one is going to be ok?

Boy am I glad.

Thank you!

I went for the measurment of 61 1/4 wheel mount flange to wheel mount flange for my 50 f1 which I believe uses the same rear dimension as yours. 57 to 72 for 9" is a bolt in. but I went with the 70 mustang 9" 28 spline for the 5x4.5 bolt pattern to match the front end and remounted new perches and shock mounts at the proper pinon angle and all works well. Ed ke6bnl I was able to use stock back spacing 8x 17 american torque thrust II with 275x65x17 tires. for the rear ed
