A Bumper's Life...
About four months ago, I walked into my local performace parts store, and place an order for a FEY Longhorn (Don't look, they quit making them!) tubular bumper for my '89 BII. After paying, and being told it would be in tommorrow because it was "In the wharehouse", I left...smiling. Next day, come to find out "Ooops...wasn't in whare house" and upon the sales guy calling FEY "The discontiued that bumper, but, they are running off two more! One is spoken for, do you want the other one?" Hell yeah, seing as I already payed! So, two months later, I get my shiny new black powdercoated bumper! Good, but, there is 8ft (serious) of snow on the ground (no garage)...so wait wait wait for spring. Spring is here, (it is now April 20th) and I go out and soak, wrench, hammer, pry, swear, sweat, beat the old bumper off. After dancing around...I pitch the old one in my dumpster. Hey,Profanity Removed! Wait a minute! This mounting kit doesnt fit!!! WHAT! IT'S FOR A 79 and up FULLSIZE BRONCO!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!! So, thats where I am at now, hassling with my auto store and FEY (We don't make a mounting kit for a BII, just a '88-'90 ranger) Fine, yes, let's pretend it is a Ranger. So, maybe in another 4 months I can post pics of my NEW BUMPER, ON THE TRUCK! AH!
So, I made my own. Good old country style. Mounting was made from a pressure treated 2x4 and some nice carriage bolts. Pictures are coming soon.
