Yeah, it was a numbering update. One of life's mini-mysteries solved...9,999,999,999 to go...

That is fine for a carbed 300-6 but Crane doesnt recommend the 503901 or the 503905 for a fuel injected 300-6. They tell me I need the 500511 is the one for efi engines. It specs at .429I .458x lift and 192* and 204* at .050" 112*LC ground 4*adv and about $200 from summit. Any ideas?

Hey Optikal, Are you saying you have the 503901/503905? Is that the powermax cam? Has your mileage suffered or stayed the same? What year is your truck? I am playing with a stock 95 m5od short bed. Will this cam fit the bill for a mild stock upgrade? When I do the cam, I am also doing the single cat/new muffler thing. That is about it. What do you think?

i have the powermax cam, both of those are the same for the most part. i have a 1993 f-150 with an E4OD. the cam does good for what i want. not sure about the milage as im pullin around 33s with 3:55s so its all down hill. i also suggest steel cam gears from advanced, they sell for like $40. also, a high flow cat with a good exhaust to follow will do ya fine. dont forget new lifters!

So far my list consists of : cam, lifters, steel timing set, possibly pushrods and rockers, oil pump, all gaskets and a high flow single cat with an aftermarket muffler. I think this should do it. How many teeth are on the Advance gear setup? I have seen both the coarse tooth and the fine tooth versions. I know Sealed Power(Federal Mogul) offers a 92 tooth (fine) steel cam gear setup.

Just out of curiosity, is there any advantages to either one?

The gears. From what I have read on the cams, they are the same 503901 and 503905. Seems like the usual corporate numbering shuffle. I think I am going to try and go with the fine tooth set if I can find them.

sounds like a plan man, good luck.

FYI, cloytes makes some adjustable cam gears where u can advanced or retard the overall cam timing +/- 3 degrees.

What is the advantage of advancing the cam?
