Please help: sticky valve?
After setting all the rocker arms, I have what feels like a sticky valve on one cylinder. I can't see anything anywhere, but can feel a catch when rotating the engine by hand. It's with the intake valve on the #2 cylinder about 1/3 of the way down. I can push past it without too much effort, but it hasn't gone away after several more rotations of the engine (in hopes that it would free up a bit). What could this be?
I don't think it's contact with the piston since I never hear any contact and it's only on one cylinder. I don't think it's a bent valve since it travels smoothly before and after the small catch. I swapped the rocker and the lifter, so those aren't the culprits. The cam lobe feels perfectly smooth through that section. When the rocker arm is pulled off, the engine rotates freely through that portion of the rotation, so it's definitely something in the valvetrain. Burr in the valveseat maybe? Do I need to pull the head? Or is this fairly common and I shouldn't worry about it?
