Picture editing advice?
I can take a picture and make it smaller but how do you make the resulting file size smaller? I should say from the original to the new size, the file size is smaller but I want to make it smaller yet with the new dimensions. I tried dropping the amount of colors but it didn't change the file size very much. I am missing something here.

First, is that a Tek O-Scope in your avatar?
Now, picture editing:
If you use Microsoft Photo Editor:
You can click on 'Image' and chose 'Resize'. Set to the percentage you want and it will resize the photo and also be a smaller file size.
If you have Paint Shop Pro:
You can use the resize option or just optimize the photo to make it a smaller file size without being a smaller picture....kinda like concentrating orange juice!

Do you have a pdf writer? You could pdf the file if you do and the file size would decrease dramatically.
You could also go to http://www.download.com/2001-20-0.html
and type in photo editor, and play with some of the programs available there.

Right, I have done that. I have a perfect example here Dennis. Your picture is 1.21 KB, mine is 7.58 KB. I just did some research on blurring to make the file size smaller. Keep the ideas coming.

Have you tried saving in a different format? With jpgs, you can change the amount of compression, too. Although, you'll lose image quality that way.

hi mike w , i have not had any luck doing the picture thing 
. i almost never got to put the avatar up. I tryied everything and couldn't figure out how to get it to a size of 60x60 
. I found a few i liked but just couldn't use them finally i sent them to a friend who knew how to size them and he sent them back to me . i don't mean to keep gabbing here 
but do you know why some of the avatars come back as no picture to display?
