I just saw a new 500 at the dealership today. I was coming back to school from the store, and I would have stopped but I had class. I think I'm going to head out there in a little bit to check er out! Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen them yet?
True, but I dont think Ford will ever bring out a mid-size with rwd and V8 power again. But I'll keep my fingers crossed. I think if you want that, you need a Crown Vicky or Grand Marquis
Ok, I just went and checked it out. It's pretty sweet!!!!!! The one I looked at was dark red w/grey leather interior. It was a 3.0L(MPG 19 city/ 24 highway), AWD, all the options, awesome car. I hope this is the car that helps Ford begin to turn around the sales lead in the car market.

I agree, my wife has a Lincoln LS and I really love driving it, but for long trips we prefer the Expy. I like, and have owned several Grand Marqs, but this time around, I don't like the styling. The Marauder would be great if it came in a two door. I guess I'm just out of date.
Ditto on the nice Lincoln LS V8 - my wife let's me drive it periodically...
I have to live vicariously thru the tales on www.lssoc.com....
QUITE a departure from the Excursion LS is slower on the straights but MUCH faster in the twisties... actually scary fast in the twisites...
Ford and Lincoln are going the wrong way !!!
thought they had learned when all their front wheel drive cars caused yawning everywhere.... but guess not...
meanwhile you hear GM and even the europeans with rwd - big hp - and 6 speeds !!!
guess where my next car is coming from !!!???!!!

It looks like an updated Falcon to me.
The only half-decent car Ford has built since the early seventies has been the Mustang, and some of those (the Mustang II, and the mid '80's with the UGLY no-grille look) are even questionable.
The new T-Bird was a nice try, unfortunately ruined with the super-cheap plastic-looking grille.
The lard-arsed Crown vics and Grand Marquis are dinosaurs rivalled only by the Buick Roadmonster for the ugliest cars in North America IMO.
Good thing Ford can build trucks, is all I can say.
And Mustangs. and of course the GT40.

Saw it on Motor Week Last week. Ford will sell a bunch to rental car companies, but it won't take on the Accord or Camary in the sales race. Engine is too small, it's slow, not exciting at all. Just another (yawn) 4 door family sedan. Nobody's going to tear down the door of the dealer to get at one of these...the new Mustang will be a different story, however!!

Are you serious about it looking like a Falcon????? You can't possibly be. And the Crown Vickies and Grand Marq's are nice cars, prolly the nicest and most reliable in the Ford family(besides Lincoln). Not only do you get a big car w/V8 power, but it comes with alot of options for relatively cheap (A hair over 25Grand).
What I can't tow with my new GT40!!!!
Not even my 10000lb TT???
My old '78 F350 pulled it like a champ...
What if I lower the axle ratio???
Will 4.56's do it???
I really find it amazing people make assumptions about a car when they have never driven one or tried one out. When the taurus came out in the mid eighties people said it would fail. It was the best selling car for years. And why wouldnt it take on the Toyotas and camrys. Your just assuming this. Hey give this car a chance it will do well. It sure beats anything GM has to offer in the car line.

1) In my book, you don't GET any more boring than a Camry or Accord. So I'd say Ford's right on target with this one.
2) I hate to break it to you, but there are a WHOLE lot of people out there that want exactly that: boring, hum-drum, bland sedans. That's why they sell so many Camrys and Accords. The '96 Taurus was far too different to ever be taken seriously by these buyers, so it's time (in the car world anyway) to stop "pushing the envelope" in Dearborn, and just give "Mr. Consumer Reports" what he wants.
