I'll give this one a shot, as I've been debating the same question for a while now. Differences are:the emblem on the fender; rear springs, therefore increasing the weight that can be carried on the axle; tires are different (to accomodate the increased load we can put on that axle I just mentioned; the sticker indicating GCVW etc.; and I don't think you can get a 250 with DRWs either. BTW, the dually has yet another increased axle capacity than the SRW. And I don't think you can get iluminated mirrors on the visors with the 350 (I think I read that somewhere)
All this (and perhaps more) for something like 6-800 bucks!
What a deal!
FWIW, I'm going with the F350 XLT Crew Cab Diesel 4X4
and still undecided on color and single or DRW. I don't want my
wife to ask me, "Can our truck tow this travel trailer?"
and have to respond, "No." due to the fact I don't have enough truck
to pull it. THAT will NEVER happen again. 15000 lbs (DRW)is a lot of trailer.
and 12500 lbs. (SRW) isn't too shabby either.
OK folks, how did I do?
Hope I didn't leave out anything REAL important.

Springs are the same (at least 99-04 year models)... I'm not sure what they are putting in the new ones.
Scroll down in the following section, as this topic has been discussed many times before. FAQ . I think YETI covers it, along with a letter from Ford on the topic. Hopefully, the letter wasn't forwarded through CBS...
I Have A 04 F350 Crew Cab Short Bed Lariet T-d 4x4. It Replaced A 03 F250 4x4 Gasser. I Know The 350 Has Taller Lift Blocks Between The Spring And The Axle.i Was Told This Was To Compensate For Squat ,so You Don't Get A Nose High Attitude With A Large Payload .
There Is No Diffrence In Ride From My 250 And I Will Never Have A Gas Truck After Having The Diesel. It Is Truly Awsome.almost Double The Mileage And Way More Power.
To Billybubba, Mine Has Lighted Mirrors On The Visors.
I ordered a 250 CC diesel this weekend. Want the 18 inch wheels. Was told there was a hold on the 18s until the end of December!! Salesman said all the large wheels were going on the 350s. Could have the truck much sooner if I went with the 350 but that would be overkill for what I need. Dealer is also reluctant to swap 17s on a 250 from a 350 on the lot. Also 350s are about $900 more expensive.

Do some research here on 250 vs. 350. They are the same truck. The 350 is NOT overkill.
It's not to late to go down there and change your order. You'll ge the wheels you want and, IMHO, the better of the two options.
My 05 350 has lighted sun visors. I also go the 4x4 w/ camper package. It sits approx 3inch higher int he back and 1.5 in the front compared to a 4x2. IMHO Pay the $650 more for the 350, and it also has a higher resale value.
Thanks for all the info guys. I believe I'll be going with the 350 crew cab, long bed, 4x4 with single rear wheels in XLT trim. I currently have been hauling everything with an 96 F150 SC F150 4x4. I used to haul a 3000 FORD diesel tractor (42HP) with a 968 pound disc mower on custom jobs. I now have a 6600 FORD tractor with a front end loader (75HP). Thus the need for a bigger truck!!
The 96 F150 is for sale. It's solid black with grey cloth int. 5.0/auto. It's very clean and has not been abused. 184,000 miles. It still has the original ball joints, tie rods, starter, alt., a/c compresser, front ujoints and drive axle ujoints. Seats have been covered since it had 43,000. They look new. If you want pics and more info. Let me know. Thanks
