dana 60 or 61?

What's the difference and are they interchangable?

dodge and ford both used a Dana 61 rear but not for long...pretty oddball.

that's about all i know about them

The Dana 61 was used in 2wd pickups and vans. It used a different ring gear carrier to allow higher gear ratios...3.21:1 and such. Trying to set up 'normal' ratio ring and pinion sets will get you nowhere in one of these housings....you'll have way too much clearance between the gear teeth. No, there is no interchangability (gears, housing, or carrier-but brakes, axles ok) with these axles, however, ring gear spacers are available if you absolutely have to run a D61 housing with 3.73/down gears or 4.10/up.
