can the bronco engine be swapped with the expeditions?
if so would it have extra expenses,or will it drop right in?
i read a thread earlier and the topic came up.
reason being,im at a thirst for strength and speed. but im on a limited budget.
and i dont want to start anything with my 94,302 and regret the change. i want one swap or enhancement, that will make my truck feel so much different.
also i would like to save on gas money.
expo swap?
351 swap?
enhancements on 302?
oh yeh how can i tell if my bronco has mass air?
I am sure the new modular motor COULD be swapped in, but it would probably be cost prohibitive. I see you are looking for strength and speed. What is your current setup? What gears do you have? Auto, or stick? Motor size? Tire size? All of these things will determine what the bronco will drive like. Broncos only came with mass air in some very late 1994 California broncos, and some 1995's. 1996 was the only year of full MAF production. Save on gas money? I hate to break it to you, but broncos and good mileage aren't normally uttered in the same sentence. If you give us your current specs, we can try and figure out the best course for you.
looking to make changes.
my 94 bronco is a 302. dont know if its mass air or what.
aint too experienced with trucks, last car i had was mitsubishi galant 5 speed.
bronco is the first truck i ever drove except a u-haul. any-way,its a 94 police issued bronco i believe it was for the nypd. dont really have any other specs than that. wheels, oh boy embaressed to say i have 3 diff. sizes on them blew brand new tire from balt, to ny. got ******* and burst. im thinking of getting 20's
after i get a paint job. was told that i will ruin my 4x4 if i keep them diff. sizes on. but savin for the big stuff. doesnt the expos give better gas mil. i have 1500 to spend on first project.
with that money buy a lift kit and 4 correct size tires. then save up later for a 351w swap. the expo motor would cost around $4000+ easy because you would need a shop to do the conversion. the 351w is a drop in swap with little changes needing to be done . it would be the best performance mod you could go with shy of a 460 swap.
for $1500 he should be able to get good tires and do some perf. mods to the 302... concentrate on high-torque mods (cam, intake, head porting, etc.) and that 302 can make some decent power. I think trying to swap in the expy motor is going to be way too cost prohibitive. I'd give the thumbs up to the lift kit, but if he wants 20" wheels, I don't think he's a lift kit kind of guy. a 351 swap shouldn't be more than $1500 if he sells that 302, right?
i did my 351w swap for under a grand. but that was for a used engine with low miles. personally it was the best way to go because i got everything i needed. the motor will last 5 years easy so by then i can build up the motor more. i think 20's would be funny looken on a bronco. 17 or 18's look good but only when lifted with a larger tire. i see lifts on ebay for under 500 then thats 1000 for tires and wheels. start off with some plain black steel wheels that are 17 or 18"s its a start
why not just kep the stock 15" wheels? I'm guessing that he has matching wheels, just not matching tires. Of course, if the wheels don't match... go get some wheels . If this was a police-issue bronco, it should be white, right? American Racing makes some decently-priced white powder-coated steel wheels that should look pretty good on a white truck.
so, arch... do the wheels match, just not the tires? What are your ultimate plans for the truck? Fuel Economy or Performance? Off-road or primarily street use? Do you like the looks of a lifted truck?
