I almost don't want to ask this question, because I'm scared of what the answers will be.
Recently when I have noticed a metallic clinking noise, almost like tapping two wrenches together lightly. I only hear it when I am sitting still in drive. Like atthe drive-thru at Wendy's or at the ATM. Does anyone have any clue as to what this could be?

Reason: No vehicle info,
well it could be an exhaust leak. inspect your exhaust manifolds for cracks or leaks . how many miles on motor? you could also have something internal goingon, when was last oil change and whats the oil pressure?
Before you get too frightened, check your oil level and pressure. If you are only hearing it at idle and you aren't experiencing any performance problems, check for loose components under the hood. I had what I thought was a sticking valve that turned out to be a loose mounting bracket on a piece of emissions equipment that decided to allow the piece to clatter against the valve cover in steady rhythmn. Your best bet is to re-create the conditions that casue the noise while you are outside the truck and can have a look for yourself. Set the parking brake, chock the wheels, be a good idea to have someone else hold the service brakes too, while its in drive and you can be under the hood having a look...and a listen.
