Well it would be functional at removing heat better than the stock hood if you don't install the insulation. That is not a problem with the 04 and newer trucks since they don't have insulation to start with. As for working as a cold air induction for the intake, that won't happen at all on the diesel.

Well, my neighbor is a professional painter and has his own body shop, so it just cost me materials. I would guess about $150-$200.

I don't want a ram air for the intake...
I want it as an exhaust for the engine heat in the summer....

do you happen to have any close ups of the back of the cowl ?

This is the only picture I had in my gallery that showed it. It is a perf hole pattern on the back side of the cowl (dark area).

If we cut the hood blanket under the scoop area it should get rid of a ton of hot air

Yes. Now realize, when you are moving, the air flow works like a real cowl induction hood. The air flow will come off of the windshield and go towards the vent. I have seen this happen if I am parked under a tree and some leaves fall on the windshield. As I start to drive down the road, the leaves will suck up right against that vent area. So I was thinking that if air is blowing in, it would blow right down on the turbo and might help with a little cooling. And when your stopped, it would vent out the heat from the turbo also.

It is a low pressure area...bummer...it is pulling it in from the air flowing under the truck.
What MPH did you notice this

I don't recall seeing it any where in the thread but this dominator hood is actually a "cowl induction" style hood, hence the air flowing into the opening at speed,(I'm not sure how many people already know that)

It may not be sucking hot air out but it is helping by sucking cool air in and leaving less room for the hot air to hang out (stagnant air),

I will be getting one for mine soon then cutting & fitting the hood mat, I'm thinking there will but a very noticeable difference in under hood temps,

I was just hoping for quicker exhaust of heat when I slow or get ready to go into the garage instead of it just baking the inside of the garage....

probably not help TOO much, but every little bit helps...
and besides - it looks WAY cool !!!!

As long as it is pulling air in it should work OK....possibly better at the 50/80MPH range

By 30 MPH, the leaf will be plastered against the vent.
